We Know the Struggle

Trying to grow as a young creative isn’t easy.

Studios are expensive. Mentors are hard to find. Opportunities often go to people with the right connections instead of the right talent. Too many programs don’t understand hip-hop or the culture you come from.

We’ve seen artists with real skill overlooked because they didn’t fit someone else’s mold. We’ve seen young people forced to choose between staying true to themselves or being taken seriously. We’ve seen talent go quiet because the doors just weren’t open.

If any of that feels familiar, you’re not alone.

The Answer We Needed

You’ve got the talent, the vision, and the hunger to create something lasting. What’s been missing is a space that honors where hip-hop comes from while preparing you for where it’s going.

The Residency is where young artists and behind-the-scenes creatives get hands-on training, mentorship, and professional opportunities—all grounded in the elements that built this culture.

This is where you become part of hip-hop’s legacy, while building a future of your own.

“The Residency taught me that artistry is not a profession but a lifestyle. It impacted me so profoundly, it gave me exactly what I needed. The program exposed me to folks of all different backgrounds that are reaching for what they want in life. The impact that this program had on me is something I will forever be grateful for.”

our Impact by the Numbers

100+

Youth served across all programs

From our flagship Summer Intensive to ongoing alumni workshops, we welcomed over 100 young artists into our community in 2024. Each participant received individualized mentorship, professional development, and access to industry connections—all while being part of a movement that honors their culture and amplifies their voice.

19

distinct programs delivered throughout the year

From DJ workshops to civic engagement campaigns, vocal coaching to audio engineering training, our 19 different programs reflected the full spectrum of hip-hop culture and career possibilities. Each program was designed to meet young artists where they are while preparing them for where they want to go.

42

public performances providing real-world experience

Our artists performed on stages across the Pacific Northwest, from Benaroya Hall to community venues. These 42 performances gave young artists professional experience, audience connection, and the confidence that comes from sharing your art with the world.

$21,280

in stipends distributed directly to young artists

We believe young artists should be paid for their work and time. This $21,280 went directly into the pockets of participants, covering transportation, supporting their families, and recognizing that their contributions to our programs—and to hip-hop culture—have real value.
